The Price of the Agenda

What does our invasion of Iraq really mean to the American people?  Nothing that benefits us but it does have meaning.  It means that every day good Americans are ground to bits in a war that does not benefit this country.  That may be hard to admit, certainly for anyone currently serving in the military.  After all you have to believe that what you are doing is for the good of your country and serves a purpose.  It means that thousands of young Americans (at a rate that exceeds all conflicts before it) will be coming home maimed and missing various appendages from VBIEDs (Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Devices) and IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).  You could simply call these car bombs and roadside bombs, but the acronyms make it seem so much more official.

Never lose sight of the rhetoric leading up to attacking Iraq.  The famed WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) motivation that the President swears he was misinformed on.  I used to buy that story.  After all I voted for Emperor Bush to have a second term.  I believed the lies I was being told.  I wanted to believe them.  I’d still like to be able to.  However there is far too much evidence that proves the President had been told there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.  Then one day it hit me.  From day one of the attack the message had been changed to, “We’re going there to bring freedom and democracy to the people of Iraq.”  This didn’t come after the “discovery” that there were no WMDs.  The message was altered on day one.  Even the operation’s name ties to that.  Operation Iraqi Freedom!  How noble is that?

Clearly the continuation of freedom in America has little to do with the agenda of this Government.  Never in American History has any single administration done more to strip liberties from Americans than this one.  What would qualify it to bring freedom to anyone else?  (That may not be true – the cascading Roosevelt – Taft – Wilson Presidencies might qualify.  While not a single administration both Taft and Wilson were handpicked to replace Roosevelt; Taft unfortunately wasn’t good at doing what he was told which lead to the move to Wilson.  However it was these Presidencies that lead to the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 as well as the ratification of the 16th Amendment (establishing the “legality” of an income tax) in 1913.  These two actions were key milestones in the stripping of power and liberty from the People.  In the end bringing freedom and liberty to Iraqis is clearly not the agenda.

What agenda you may ask?  I don’t know specifically how to answer that.  I don’t know for sure what the agenda is.  There are several credible theories out there.  I’ve got my own preferred theory and perhaps I’ll cover that at some other time but for now it really doesn’t matter.  What does matter is that we look at the facts of what is going on and at least agree there is likely some agenda besides or beyond that which has been provided to us.

Whatever the real agenda is good Americans are dying and being maimed in the deserts of Babylon to achieve it.  Halliburton and a cadre of corporations are getting fat off the carrion this war is providing.  The National Debt is through the roof.  Our children face a grim future of being chewed up in this or some other Globalist conflict as well as living in poverty given the imminent collapse of our economy if the spending continues at its current rate.

This war was illegal to start with.  This war remains immoral.  It’s time for people to wake up, speak up, and demand accountability from their Government.  It should sicken people when George Bush says, “We’ll leave Iraq when the military says, not when Congress (or by extension the people) say we will.”  That’s the speech of a Dictator not the head of a Democratic Republic, governed by the People, for the People, and of the People.

  1. Demand at your State Legislature level that a resolution be based demanding an end to this destruction of our youth and future for no apparent reason.

  1. Demand that your State Legislature and Governor demand the return of your State’s Guard from Iraq.  These troops belong to the Governor and were never intended to be handed over to the Federal Government for years at a time.

  1. Demand that your Senators and Representatives in Washington pass a resolution demanding an end to this illegal conflict.

  1. Demand that your Senators and Representatives take action against the President for High Crimes committed by his own admission; ignoring the rulings regarding the FISA court and its penalties.  (This is the law of the land and the President cannot arbitrarily IGNORE it.)

  1. Demand that your Senators and Representatives read the damned Patriot Act and move to de-authorize it!  It is the most vile and unconstitutional legislation ever passed.  It subverts the Constitution in ways we haven’t even thought of yet with its broad, sweeping language.  Without a doubt it provides more power and bigger Government that ever before.

To not do these things will cost America greatly.  Regardless of what you chose to believe the agenda is.  You are watching the destruction of thousands of young Americans, millions of Iraqis (bet they feel free now), your economy, and your liberties.  Stop it now or wish you had.
