The Magical 1911

In general I spent a long time being convinced that technology had produced a better handgun than those that were available to say my grandfather.

Well in some ways I suppose they might have. I'd propose rather that they've made them different. They've made them lighter. They've made them hold more rounds. But they haven't made a finer or more reliable handgun than the 1911.

I've yet to determine where the reputation of always having feed issues and what not comes from. My 1911's all run flawlessly. The design is so simple that you can break the entire pistol down and rebuild it with new springs and put it back in service within 15 minutes with only a couple of tools.

The 1911 is a natural pointer driven largely by the grip angle. While I certainly can't say anything "bad" about Glocks. I don't personally like them. I don't like the grip angle one bit. By the way it's not a hatred of plastic pistols either. There are some plastic or "composite" pistols I like just fine. The FNP-40 is one. The Walther P99 is another. There are certainly worse things to be lost in the woods with than a Glock. One will just never be my first choice.

Here's a couple of my favorites. First a Kimber Custom II that I decided to rework. That was an adventure and something I think everyone should do at least once.

Second is a 32 year old Colt Combat Commander that I rescued in horrid shape. Someone had abused this poor pistol to near destruction. I brought it back from the dead and would trust my life to it in an instant.

Next project which I've just started is reworking a Rock Island Armory pistol. These aren't the fanciest 1911 out there, but they are a reliable and good shooter which can be picked up new for $350. We'll see how it turns out.

I suppose the point of all this is, if like me you've made a circuit of the handgun world looking for the "ultimate" handgun but you haven't spent some time with a 1911 in awhile. You might want to circle back and spend some time in a camp that nears 100 years old. You just might be surprised.

Para-Ordnance Almost the Best 1911

Being an avid shooter I like to recognize both good and not so good service in the shooting community. But what really gets me is when a company comes so close to being the best they can be and then falls short in silly ways.

Today's topic is my experiences with Para-Ordnance and their 1911 pistols.

I've now officially owned two of these. While that isn't a large sampling of firearms from a manufacturer it is a good start to determining whether that number will ever grow. Now while I say I've had two of these that is not to imply at the same time.

I had one, which I purchased brand new, and then quickly rid myself of, leaving me with none. Then some time later I acquired a second Para used, which will likely not stay in my possession as long as the first one.

So now all that is missing is the details.

The first pistol was a Para LTC (which is their version of a Commander sized 1911) which was finished in an interesting "midnight blue" color.

After purchasing the pistol in question I took it to the range to break it in and see how it shot. I have to say that the first trip to the range left me loving that Para pistol. It was accurate, easy to shoot, and in general just felt right.

The love affair ended on the second trip to the range when I noticed that the ejector on said pistol was starting to look like a mushroom on the end. By 500 rounds down range it had progressed to the end of the extended ejector being peened back to the point that it was interfering with the slide of the pistol.

Also the rear sight had come loose which is in general not a big deal, it tightens up with the hex set screw. Unfortuantely the rear sight which appeared to be of some composite material vs. metal, did not want to tighten as the dovetail on it was deforming and was causing it to lift up high in the dovetail slot.

Well I did what I think any normal person would do and called Para-Ordnance about my now week old pistol.

Their response?

Well apparently the ejector had not been properly hardened. (Ya think?)

As for the sight, it was defintely not plastic (sure looked like it to me) but either way they could fix that at the same time, unless of course I wanted to send them a check for $99 to put night sights on it.

All I needed to do was spend $20-30 to overnight the pistol to them and they'd get right on it.

Um, yeah well you see I just dropped a ton of cash on buying this thing, so why would I spend $30 to send something with a third rate (not properly hardened parts) back to them to replace with more parts that may or may not have been properly hardened.

I argued that they should issue a call tag and pay to ship the pistol, they refused.

My solution? I went back to my dealer and argued with him until he took it back and I went home with a brand new 1911 from another manufacturer. That pistol now has around 8,000 rounds down the barrel, with as much as a hiccup.

All in all pretty shoddy for a company that says they have the best service:

This means that we will provide the original retail purchaser of any one of our pistols with all necessary service, free of charge, for the lifetime of the pistol, where adjustment or repair is required due to some defect in materials or workmanship.

I can't say I agree with them. For instance a while back I had a pistol from another big firearms manufacturer, in fact one that has huge Government contracts to worry about, that broke an extractor in mid-magazine at the range. I caled them up, they didn't ask for a receipt or anything else. They simply got my address and said a call tag would arrive two days later have the pistol packaged up to go. Sure enough, call tag shows, I stuck it on the box, driver took it, less than two weeks later, the box was back fully repaired pistol inside.

NOW THAT is service. I feel that in itself is enough to prove they don't have the BEST service at Para-Ordnance.

OK so the experience with the LTC was about six months ago. I recently had an opportunity to get a Para-Ordnance Tac-Four in a trade deal. The Tac-Four is a double stack magazine design with their LDA trigger in it. This is a pistol that Para feels is worth over $1,000.

Well, you guessed it, things did not go well with this one either. At some point in the future I'll go into more detail on why I at least have determined the LDA trigger is not something I want my life to depend on, but for now we'll stick to just the issues with this pistol.

Most of the time you pull the trigger and it goes bang. However randomly, yet frequently, it will strike the primer of the bullet too lightly and not fire. There are times where you can go through 2 or 3 magazines without a failure and at other times, it may do it every two or three shots. Needless to say, this particular pistol fails miserably at the one thing a pistol absolutely MUST do.

Now as for feel of the LDA trigger, it's incredible. Accuracy of the pistol? Both Para pistols discussed here were wonderfully accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Yet BOTH suffered from mechanical ailments that rendered them useless as a defensive firearm.

My calls to Para about the Tac-Four went even worse than the LTC. Since I bought this pistol used vs. new, there of course is no warranty as that only applies to the original owner. So if I'd like to send it in and pay $30 in shipping as well as what they believe would be about $63 they could fix it.

Yeah I'm going to toss $100 at a not very old pistol to get it to do what a pistol should do?

Nope I simply sold it off to someone at a good price that wanted to deal with it.

I doubt I'll invest in another Para pistol. I'm 0 for 2 which to me is not good odds. Especially when compared to companies like Springfield that WILL back their warranty (generally speaking) for second owners. But then again, none of my Springfields or my Kimbers have ever needed to go back to be serviced. The FN pistol I mentioned earlier was taken care with exceptional customer service. All in all, why would I bother with another Para?

This is a company that comes so close, but just falls short in such silly ways. It's quite disappointing. I really WANT to like Para-Ordnance. I want their products to be top notch. Unfortunately in my two gun experience they just aren't and worse, I can't say Para seems to care.

Once again the mainstream media is off and running. Covering the tragic loss of life at Virginia Tech and pointing out that guns caused this. Once again they are all over telling the people that the gun banning crowd is hard at work trying to get more legislation passed to stop this kind of tragedy from happening. Once again the heritage of firearms in this country is being spattered with mud as if it were the problem.

MILD TASTE ON CAPITOL HILL FOR NEW GUN CONTROL LAW AFTER VIRGINIA TECH SHOOTING

WASHINGTON — A flurry of activity on Capitol Hill about gun control has already begun in the wake of the high-profile gun crime committed at Virginia Tech this week. Some advocates are using the shooting spree as an example of an urgent need for action despite the fact shooter Cho Seung-Hui obtained the guns legally.
However, there appears to be little appetite for action in the new Democratic-controlled Senate.

Headlines like the above make it seem as if we need new legislation because Cho obtained his firearms legally. OK great! He however BROKE the law when he brought them on campus. He BROKE the law when he decided to murder people. He BROKE a book full of existing laws.

The people he shot were NOT breaking the law. Hence they could not defend themselves. Virginia has concealed carry. Like in every other instance violent crime has fallen drastically in Virginia. Concealed carry is a HUGE crime deterrent, every place but “victim disarmament” zones.

The irony is legislation was attempted to insure that Virginia carry permit holders could be armed on the University campus was introduced and shot down with the assistance of VA Tech’s management.

Our hearts and prayers truly go out to all of those affected by Cho Seung-Hui's evil actions. But not even senseless, brutal murder justifies taking away the God-given rights of the law-abiding.
It is also worthwhile to note that Virginia Tech is -- because of deliberate policies set by its administration -- a victim disarmament zone, where even those with a state-issued concealed carry permit are denied their right of self-defense.

In fact, pro-gun forces just last year tried to get the Virginia legislature to address the problem. The bill to allow permit holders to carry on state-supported college campuses died, due in no small part to rabid opposition from Virginia Tech itself. VT spokesman Larry Hincker put it this way after it became obvious that the bill would not pass: "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

The unfortunate irony continues when one recalls that not long ago, two students at nearby Appalachian School of Law managed to stop a gunman at that institution. Happily, they were able to dash off-campus to retrieve their guns from their vehicles.

Four GOA spokesmen (one based in downtown D.C. and three at our Springfield, VA office just outside the Beltway) are working non-stop -- doing literally interview after interview -- making certain that the above points reach the public.

GOA has appeared on Fox News, ABC, CNN, BBC -- lots of alphabet soup networks -- as well as countless talk shows like Michael Reagan and Lars Larson. GOA spokesmen have been heard in every major radio market around the country and have done interviews with large print media outlets, such as the Associated Press and U.S. News & World Report.

The overall message that GOA is delivering is that gun prohibitions are part of the problem, not the solution.
We can expect some forms of new gun control to be pushed in the U.S. Congress. The Democrats control Congress, but more importantly, anti-gun politicians control the Democrat party. If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- certainly no friend of gun owners -- gives free rein to virulently anti-gun House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-MI), literally anything can make it to the floor of the full House.

Conyers' counterpart in the Senate is Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT), whose GOA rating of "F" is well-deserved. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has also earned F. Gun owners will have to be especially vigilant in the coming weeks to block any new attempts to infringe upon the Second Amendment. And whereas the predictable media stampede to give voice to the possibility of such new gun control is certainly there, it does not seem to have the same "this simply must happen now" tone that it did after the Columbine tragedy in 1999. Indeed, the idea of firearms for self-defense in schools is gaining serious traction. Which should not be all that surprising, given a Research 2000 poll which showed that 85% of Americans find it appropriate for a principal or teacher to use "a gun at school to defend the lives of students" in stopping a massacre.

Yes, I bet they were appreciative as they were lined up and shot like lemmings. That may sound callous, but oh well. Had students that had gone through the back ground check and training process to become permit holders been allowed to be armed vs. contained in an area that was known to be gun free, I am certain that SOMEONE would have been armed and put an end to the spree long before it came to the conclusion that it did.

Not only that it likely would have come to a conclusion while the police were outside cowering behind their car doors waiting for the SWAT teams to show up, decide what to do, and take some action. Keep in mind numerous court rulings now support that there is no obligation on the police or governments to protect the citizens. Yet, you are robbed of the ability to protect yourself in these environments.

Not only are Fox, CNN, and MSNBC not telling to whole story, they are playing into the anti-gun hysteria, sensationalizing it. The VA Tech administrators that refused to support allowing permit holders to be armed on campus have blood on their hands. Pure and simple.

As for the rest of you that think guns are the problem, that think guns are bad, go shoot one. Get some instruction at a range near you. Go do some research about the DROP in crime rates everywhere that concealed carry laws have gone into place. Pay attention to the fact that the only places these mass shootings take place is schools and other areas where there is a mass of disarmed people. Go do some research on the crime trend in the UK and Australia since disarming victims. Educate yourself on the truth. Realize that the police are not obligated to protect. Realize that if you have a family it is YOUR obligation to protect and defend them.

In short, just educate yourself.

Victim Disarmament and VA Tech

The recent shooting spree at Virginia Tech once again shines the spotlight of truth on the lies or at least misguided rhetoric of the gun ban crowd. Places of guaranteed disarmament are a playground for those who want to kill lots of people.

In the name of "safety", certain persons lobbied successfully to prevent the carrying of firearms on Virginia Tech's campus. Yesterday's massacre was the direct result of that lobbying.

Did the rules forbidding the carrying of firearms prevent Seung Hui Cho's senseless slaughter? Obviously not. In fact, the rules encouraged his rampage because law-abiding citizens were unable to prevent Cho from completing his butchery.

The blood of those 32 innocents is on the hands of those who lobbied for victim disarmament, and on the hands of the president of the university who acquiesced to their short-sighted demands.

It brings to mind the term “victim disarmament”

That’s all the gun ban crowd creates. Criminals don’t care about the law. The police will NOT be there to protect you. If you believe that they will you are only kidding yourself. Look at the pictures from Columbine and VA Tech. Look at the officers hiding behind patrol car doors while people are gunned down inside the buildings.

Go review the court cases ruling that there is no obligation for the police to protect you. But better yet, why would you sit around waiting and expecting someone else to protect you?

I do not expect to be protected. I do not expect someone else to protect my family. That is my responsibility and my family’s responsibility.

Arming you and other law abiding citizens does reduce crime. Banning guns does not. If you have any illusions about it, go do some research. Look at the results in the UK and Australia. You need do no more research than a quick Google and read on the outcomes of their bans and restrictions and the increase of violent crime.

Moreover, these stories did not mention that a shotgun was used to stop the crime. The New York Daily News, for example, explained that the restaurant owner “persuaded [the killer] to surrender,” while The Atlanta Journal wrote how he “chased [the killer] down and held him until police came.”

You can add to that the fact that guns are the only things that have maintained our relative safety and liberty since 1776. I can assure you with disarmed population slavery will follow. Without the protections of the First and Second Amendment, none of the rest of the Bill of Rights is possible.

Immoral Criminals in Washington

So I haven’t posted anything in awhile. I think it’s time for me to get back to doing so. I continually fall into the trap of getting busy and then moving to tomorrow all the things that didn’t seem so important to do today. This blog has all too often been the thing that could move to tomorrow. In reality it can’t. Things are crazy in America today. We’ve got some of the most immoral and perhaps insane people running this country possible. Yes, that’s a broad statement, but it is what it is. I mean we have an Attorney General that enjoys the full support of the President, yet he won’t acknowledge that Habeas Corpus is an inherent right of the People.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 18^th, in his conversation about habeas corpus with Senator Arlen Specter (R-Penn.):

Gonzales: The fact that the Constitution – again, there is no express grant of habeas [corpus] in the Constitution. There is a prohibition against taking it away. But it’s never been the case, and I’m not a Supreme –

Specter: Now, wait a minute. Wait a minute. The Constitution says you can’t take it away, except in the case of rebellion or invasion. Doesn’t that mean you have the right of habeas corpus, unless there is an invasion or rebellion?

Gonzales: I meant by that comment, the Constitution doesn’t say, "Every individual in the United States or every citizen is hereby granted or assured the right to habeas." It doesn’t say that. It simply says the right of habeas corpus shall not be suspended except by –

Specter: You may be treading on your interdiction and violating common sense, Mr. Attorney General.

Gonzales: Um.

Of course, Gonzales is partly right. There is no specific "grant" of habeas corpus in the Constitution, because inalienable rights are not doled out by government. America’s founding fathers didn't believe governments grant rights. Instead, they believed (to quote Thomas Jefferson) that "all men … are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." God, not government, grants rights according to the thinking and language of the founders. That’s why George Mason wrote – when framing the Bill of Rights – that "Congress shall make no law" abridging our rights rather than "Every individual is granted" such-and-such a right. The difference is key, because anything government has the legitimate power to give you, it also has the power to take away. The founders said that our rights were unalienable, unable to be removed by the power of government.

And nothing – other than life itself – is more essential than the right to liberty. Habeas corpus simply says that government must produce some proof of a crime before locking up a man and taking away his liberty.

I called him a wicked fool because I don’t actually believe he’s stupid. He’s simply wicked. He seeks to destroy the Constitution and our liberty right along with it.

This is the same man that had a top aide state that the President could order the torture of children if he wanted to and a list of other heinous un-American acts.

The best part is, most Americans are so pathetically and blissfully ignorant of the great gift granted them by the Founding Fathers, that with latte encrusted lips they just smile, occasionally drool, and say, “Thank you for keeping us safe.”

Lemmings have more sense than most of my countrymen today.

How will that latte taste as a slave? How will it taste when they collapse your economy and you can’t buy one. Better yet, you can’t feed your family either.

Go ahead, drink up, be merry, and trust the Government. (Even though there is no historical precedent for being able to trust ANY government. In fact we were specifically warned by the Founding Fathers NEVER to trust our government, for to do so would be the beginning of the end of our liberty.)

Better yet how can you trust a Government run by people like Mr. Gonzales? How can the top attorney in the country think that Habeas Corpus isn't a right of ALL of us. How can you think that the Government grants us anything?

Oh well then again this is the same man that not only would advocate the torture of children, he'd cover it up.

It’s time to start holding politicians accountable for their actions.

It’s time to hold them accountable for the people they appoint to positions of power (ie: Alberto Gonzales)

It’s time to ask questions. One such question you should ask is, “If there is a War on Terrorism and we have all these enemies that want to strike at us and hurt us, why can anyone bring anything, any time, across the Southern Border of the US?” How about another great question? “If 1 million Chinese soldiers put on civilian clothing and stream across our southern border is search of “jobs” are they an invading army or migrant workers?”

It’s time for YOU to get educated. Understand your rights; understand that they are not granted by the Government. Understand that if you don’t defend them, your children will pay the price.

What is wrong with my Countrymen?

For the most part each of us is proud of being an American. Most of us can recount some version of the American Revolution when asked. We may not always get the facts exactly right, but we have some view of George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Hancock, and the rest of the merry band of Traitors to the Crown.

We do a good job of paying homage to the sacrifices they made to give us freedom. We memorize quotes like, “Give me liberty or give me death.” It all sounds heroic doesn’t it?

What happened to those of us that believe in the concept? I mean really believe it. Is that fear that we would have to act alone, that none of our countrymen would rise to stand with us if we demanded the Federal Government act in accordance with its charter? For that matter would anyone rise to stand with us?

The Constitution after all is the Charter of the United States of America. It articulates the powers granted to the Federal Government and reserves all others as the domain of the state. However the Federal Government now ignores this and grabs and retains powers not granted it. The Federal Government has very much adopted the stance of ruling vs. leading. No longer is there a sense of Government serving the People. Quite the contrary, there is a strong sense of the People serving the government.

The Federal Income Tax is simply illegal and Unconstitutional. Worse it isn’t even driven by actual laws that empower it. Like the comment that starts this article off. Congress was not granted this power. The Federal Government was not delegated this power at all. Congress may pass either direct taxation (such as the gas tax.) or an apportioned tax (one that is split equally among the people in America.) Typically an apportioned tax would actually be split to the States based on the populations of those states. Either way it would be portioned equally to the populace.

This is not what the Income Tax does. Nor can anyone cite or point to an actual law that requires you to pay it. The IRS is simply put a terrorist organization.

If you are preparing to argue that it is not I propose this to you. Why do you turn over ¼ - 1/3 of your income to Income Tax? Do you do so because you don’t need the money? Do you do it because you feel like it is spent well by the Federal Government? Do you believe it pays for the operation of the Federal Government? (If you do, hold that thought I’ll cover in a moment how wrong that belief is.

Most likely you pay that amount of your income to Income Tax because you have NO CHOICE. It’s taken from you by the Government before you even have it. Let’s assume for a moment that Income Tax is legal under the Constitution and all the other aspects are fine. What gives the Government the right to seize your money before you ever receive it?

Like to know what the first Commissioner of the IRS had to say? Well for starters he quit in protest. His comments however were as follows:

This is from Thomas Coleman Andrews, the first commissioner of the IRS who resigned in protest due to his disagreement with the institution and it's goals...

"Congress went beyond merely enacting an income tax law and repealed Article IV of the Bill of Rights, by empowering the tax collector to do the very things from which that article says we were to be secure. It opened up our homes, our papers and our effects to the prying eyes of government agents and set the stage for searches of our books and vaults and for inquiries into our private affairs whenever the tax men might decide, even though there might not be any justification beyond mere cynical suspicion."

"The income tax is bad because it has robbed you and me of the guarantee of privacy and the respect for our property that were given to us in Article IV of the Bill of Rights. This invasion is absolute and complete as far as the amount of tax that can be assessed is concerned. Please remember that under the Sixteenth Amendment, Congress can take 100% of our income anytime it wants to. As a matter of fact, right now it is imposing a tax as high as 91%. This is downright confiscation and cannot be defended on any other grounds."

"The income tax is bad because it was conceived in class hatred, is an instrument of vengeance and plays right into the hands of the communists. It employs the vicious communist principle of taking from each according to his accumulation of the fruits of his labor and giving to others according to their needs, regardless of whether those needs are the result of indolence or lack of pride, self-respect, personal dignity or other attributes of men."

The American people have been taken for a ride. Do you think your income tax goes to fund the Federal Government and its services? They don’t. Your Income Tax Revenue goes directly to the Federal Reserve. Do you think the Federal Reserve is a Government entity? It’s about as much of one as FedEx is. It’s a private institution that by its charter can never be audited. How many banks do you know of can never be audited? What a field day for thieves.

Better yet all of the gold that was your property, property of the American people was turned over to the Federal Reserve. The private bank that can never be audited, yes that Federal Reserve. Do you see a connection to the fact that the Income Tax and the Federal Reserve were passed in conjunction with each other?

Do you know that the IRS cannot show anyone the law that says you have to pay income tax? Do you know that they can define what a taxpayer is, or show in anyway that you as a laborer can be defined as a taxpayer?

Do you understand that Americans were never supposed to pay the Federal Government the way that we do? The bulk of our taxation was to be paid to the States (which in turn would fund the Federal Government.) The exception to this was times of undue need for revenue that was aligned with the powers delegated to the Federal Government by the Constitution. (For example, fighting wars to defend the nation.) That by the way is where the apportioned tax came in.

You’ve been taken for a ride. You are still being taken for a ride. You’ve become part of a thieving communistic system that will keep the “select” rich getting richer and the not in favor rich all the way through the poor, poor or getting poorer. The elite (the chosen of the “Government”) make money and lots of it off your labor.

In 1913 when the Federal Reserve was created a dollar was worth a dollar. Just as it had been more or less since the creation of the dollar, now it takes 25 dollars to roughly equal the dollar of 1913. We have failed ourselves; we have failed the Founding Fathers. So on Sunday I'm going about my merry way on my way to the local Wal-Mart to get a replacement bulb, I'm sure complete with RFID tagging and all... But hey it's convenient.

Just before turning off the main road I was on to turn into the Wal-Mart parking lot, I spot this guy.

Notice the GITMO sticker. In case you can't read the bottom of the sticker it says, "Lock The Terrorsits Up!"
The black thing in the middle is Osama's head behind bars. I found this sticker very distrubing and was struck by a desire to see what the person that would advocate the finer points of GITMO as well as support Rick Perry's sell-out of Texas via the Trans-Texas Corridor and Spanish owned companies controlling the plethora of toll roads they are building all over the place, looked like. I suppose I was hoping to find a drooling idiot behind the wheel that I could have pity on and understand completely why they didn't understand what they were supporting.

Alas! I was disappointed to find a very normal looking older man and his wife driving along in blissful ignorance. Now keep in mind it was Sunday and as we got closer to a very large church in the area I had a new bright thought, the irony of which was just too much. What if these Neo-Con, torture supporting people were on their way to church? Wouldn't that just be a hoot?

Well sure enough, I wasn't disappointed this time. They turned into the church parking lot, parked, the gentleman grabbed his Bible, and off they went to commune with Yahweh.

While I can't really find any place in the Bible where torture is specifically condemned, I also can't find where it is specifically allowed in general. There would appear to be some acceptance in the Old Testament of its use for crimes commited that a criminal was convicted of.

However this to me is an issue that requires the searching of your heart on two levels. The first is as an American. I cannot condone the use of torture by America against others with the intent of coercion. One it doesn't work and second I believe it to be morally wrong and against the principles this country is founded on. The second search must be into your relationship with Yahweh. I believe you will find that Yahweh does not condone the torture of men by men and certainly not in the absence of any wrong doing.

Perhaps more important and in fact most important is simply the caption of the sticker, "Lock The Terrorsits Up!"

How long before that gentlemen is labeled a terrorist? How long before you are? If you've been following any of the events since 9/11 you should be very concerned.

The Patriot Act on has seen massive amounts of legislation and worse simple Executive Orders, that strip your liberties and protections. They will manage to subvert Habeus Corpus with regards to US Citizens. Have no fear of that.

How will you feel then about being locked up without charges or hope of justice?

Death of America - Or at least my America

There is a terrible stink that is descending on America. Perhaps that is not the right way to refer to this situation. Perhaps it is more that there is a terrible stink rising from the rotting carcass of what was once America. Strong words you say? I’ll not deny that. Indeed they are. But then again these are very troubling times.

What has happened to my brothers and sisters? Those who once could call themselves Americans with pride? It is hard to be proud when one is not righteous. America is no longer righteous.

If you haven’t already, do some searches on the torture legislation and debate. I’m torn whether to go to the trouble to post links in this or not. I’m not sure I should. Maybe people should get off their asses and go look for themselves. The very fact that there can be a debate about America using torture, secret prisons, detaining even American citizens without Habeas Corpus, and of course the famous “crushing of children’s genitals in front of their parents” is reason enough to call the time of death on America.

The entire debate is so anti everything this country stands for and the principles it was built on that just be its existence for more than 10 minutes, tells me we’ve crossed over. We’ve become no better than the British government we separated from. You remember, the one you were so repulsed by when you watched The Patriot and saw the Dragoons burn all those people alive in the church?

The Americans: “That’s horrific, you are monsters!”

The British: "We are finding terrorists and bringing them to justice. We are gathering information about where the terrorists may be hiding. We are trying to disrupt their plots and plans."

If you look, you will find that nearly every day there is some new attack on basic honest Americans. Well I suppose you could say that basic and honest are open to discussion and interpretation. At the very least you can find instances of people who are trying to do the right thing being trampled by the Homeland and its new found powers.

Take for instance Major Mike McCormack who is a hospital technician and civil air patrol pilot who worked the ground zero site for eight days after the collapse of the twin towers. He is one of the real heroes of 9/11 and was the man who found the American flag that was later displayed as a token of unity atop the rubble.

Unfortunately for Mike he is also one of the multitude of people now seriously ill from the toxic air he breathed at ground zero. He is one of the many that believed the EPA when they said the air was safe. Mike's misfortune gets bigger however. He is also the man that helped release documentation prooving the EPA covered up the toxic nature of the air. An act that is wholly American (at least in my opinion) one designed to unmask the criminal nature of our government. Those actions likely resulted in this:

You are being lied to. Every day it mounts. It drives me crazy at times to see what is going on and for so many others to be so unable to see or accept the same. At the same time the unfortunate reality is that only a small percentage of the population will ever be able to see, far too many people simply lack the mental capacity for it. They may sound like a snotty, arrogant, and snobbish thing to say but unfortunately it is all too true.

The bulk of the population has never been geniuses but after 80 years of being dumbed down, it's far worse than it's ever been. Each day more and more Americans seem to lose the ability to think for themselves, to make logical decisions, or for that matter even to separate fact from fiction.

It's curious really. The President told us on 9/11/01 that "they" hate us for our freedom. So the President had to make sure that our freedom was reduced.

Perhaps in the age old debate of the chicken or the egg, the egg could have come first?

Then again we have a President that thinks America is a Democracy. Even worse, assuming most people could even give you an answer, they'd think we had a democracy to. Which of course is wrong. America was eastablished as a Republic.

Today we have police that dress up is assault gear with battering rams to go and arrest people. There was a time when assault and battery was a crime, not a state sponsored and sanctioned event.

I sometimes wonder, had our Founding Fathers known what would become of their dream, would they have gone to the effort? I think the answer is yes, not because they wouldn't have been miserably disappointed in us, but because they got to live out their lives in freedom. Their children had better lives. Andrew Jackson was able to abolish the Bank of the United States and set us back on the road of freedom.

But unfortunately the Civil War started a chain of events that continues to evolve today. What our Founders created couldn't be torn down over night. No it's taken almost 150 years to bring it to the brink of destruction. But make no mistake, the Civil War was not about slavery. It was about State's Rights. It was about an ideal that was a cornerstone of America. Slavery was wrong and while there were those that fought purely for that issue, that isn't what the "war" was about.

After the Civil War the 14th Amendment drove a stake into the heart of what America was structured to be. You became a citizen of the United States first and a citizen of your state second. That was not what was intended and America lost many of the protections inherrently built into the model as a result.

1913 brought the Federal Reserve and the Income Tax to bear which was really nothing more than the double punch required to push us further down the road to tyranny. Worst of all is that through it all, most Americans believe that they are free.

Americans now seem to believe they don't have to think for themselves, after all CNN, FoxNews, MSNBC, those organizations will keep them informed, will tell them what to think.

This is an issue that people must stand up and take notice of. Really it has gotten to the point where I don’t believe a rationale person can continue to ignore the complete and total disregard this administration shows for the Constitution, nor its continual pattern of putting criminals and those lacking dedication to the Constitution into positions of power.

General Hayden stands on the brink of confirmation has head of the CIA. This is a man that is a liar and a scoundrel. This is a man that swore a solemn oath as a member of the military to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and instead has chosen to become a domestic enemy. Why do a say a domestic enemy? Because this is a man who continues to declare that the President has the ability to engage in whatever level of spying and surveillance he chooses without regard for its blatant violation of the Constitution and our Law.

For instance:

NEW YORK Gen. Michael Hayden, expected to be named new director of the CIA, replacing Porter Goss as early as Monday, displayed a shaky awareness of the Fourth Amendment in an appearance at the National Press Club in Washingnon, D.C., on January 23, E&P reported at the time.

Hayden, the former national director of the National Security Agency, was much in the news at the time as a defender of the NSA's domestic spying program.

Hayden, now principal deputy director of National Intelligence with the Office of National Intelligence, was NSA director when the NSA monitoring program began in 2001.

As the last journalist to get in a question at the Press Club, Jonathan Landay, a well-regarded investigative reporter for Knight Ridder, noted that Gen. Hayden repeatedly referred to the Fourth Amendment's search standard of "reasonableness" without mentioning that it also demands "probable cause." Hayden seemed to deny that the amendment included any such thing, or simply ignored it. He directly said "no" it did not include "probable cause."

This caused Landay to reply, "The legal standard is probable cause, General."

QUESTION: Jonathan Landay with Knight Ridder. I'd like to stay on the same issue, and that had to do with the standard by which you use to target your wiretaps. I'm no lawyer, but my understanding is that the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution specifies that you must have probable cause to be able to do a search that does not violate an American's right against unlawful searches and seizures. Do you use --

GEN. HAYDEN: No, actually -- the Fourth Amendment actually protects all of us against unreasonable search and seizure.

QUESTION: But the --

GEN. HAYDEN: That's what it says.

QUESTION: But the measure is probable cause, I believe.

GEN. HAYDEN: The amendment says unreasonable search and seizure.

QUESTION: But does it not say probable --

GEN. HAYDEN: No. The amendment says --

QUESTION: The court standard, the legal standard --

GEN. HAYDEN: -- unreasonable search and seizure.

QUESTION: The legal standard is probable cause, General. You used the terms just a few minutes ago, "We reasonably believe." And a FISA court, my understanding is, would not give you a warrant if you went before them and say "we reasonably believe"; you have to go to the FISA court, or the attorney general has to go to the FISA court and say, "we have probable cause."

And so what many people believe -- and I'd like you to respond to this -- is that what you've actually done is crafted a detour around the FISA court by creating a new standard of "reasonably believe" in place of probable cause because the FISA court will not give you a warrant based on reasonable belief, you have to show probable cause. Could you respond to that, please?

GEN. HAYDEN: Sure. I didn't craft the authorization. I am responding to a lawful order. All right? The attorney general has averred to the lawfulness of the order.

Just to be very clear -- and believe me, if there's any amendment to the Constitution that employees of the National Security Agency are familiar with, it's the Fourth. And it is a reasonableness standard in the Fourth Amendment. And so what you've raised to me -- and I'm not a lawyer, and don't want to become one -- what you've raised to me is, in terms of quoting the Fourth Amendment, is an issue of the Constitution. The constitutional standard is "reasonable." And we believe -- I am convinced that we are lawful because what it is we're doing is reasonable.

Well there are a number of alarming things about that exchange.

The obvious lack of knowledge or concern for that matter about what the Fourth Amendment actually says.
The fact that Hayden tries to establish the principle that because he is not a lawyer he has no responsibility to know and understand the Constitution.

Very questionable for a man that swore and oath to uphold and defend it. Yes, a prime candidate to run the CIA.

It seems to me that there has been a trend here of people coming and going from this administration only to replaced by those more willing to violate the law at Lord Bush’s command. Notice the upstanding people with pride and ethics didn’t stay long. Take Colin Powell for instance. He’s certainly been quite since he left, I wonder what threat he’s living under.

Ladies and gentlemen your country is being dismantled around you. Your economy is being destroyed; actually it has been being destroyed for years, the decline became evident in the 70’s as the dollar reeled from being converted to a baseless paper system, but the decline has continued and increased through the 90’s and now in the 2000’s it’s pace has become break neck.

I really don’t know what this administration is going to have to do to make it completely obvious to all but the 10% or so of America that will and always will believe anything, wake up and understand.

Our liberty, our country, is a delicate and precious thing. I fear that too many years of living without signs of visible oppression and without armed conflict coming to our soil from a foreign aggressor since 1812, you have all become soft.

I haven’t written anything in some time. For that I apologize, at least to any of you who come here routinely to read my ramblings. It’s my goal and intent to always post something daily. So far I’ve failed miserably at that, however I will post something today. I want to bring back up the case of, “United States vs. Specialist New.”

I want to encourage each and every one of you who reads this to obtain a book, Michael New Mercenary or American Soldier. If you’ve never read it you owe it to yourself to do so.

Daily I encounter people that think the concept of a New World Order (NWO) or One World Government (OWG) is a bunch of tin foil hated conspiracy nonsense. For that matter there was a time when I said the same thing. I freely admit that. I was engineered to say that and feel that way. However I’ve always had a fiercely ideological streak. I was raised to believe in God and my Christian heritage. Although I admit I am not from an every Sunday church attending family. Rather I would say I was raised with a Jeffersonian view on religion. Organized religion is corruptible and in almost every instance has been today. A man’s beliefs are his own and God controls my actions. I do not need a priest or preacher to tell me right from wrong. In fact that is why I don’t like churches, I can feel the corruption. Yes I can feel the power of God and belief there as well, but darkness besmirches the modern church. However I do not want to digress and turn this into a religious debate because that is not the intent.

So there was a time when I thought anyone that actually believed that there could be such a thing as the New World Order or a One World Government was a crackpot. But then my ideological streak, my beliefs, my growing sense of things not being right, or for that matter the actions of the Government simply defying logic, ran smack into knowledge I could no longer deny. Christianity is under attack in this country and has been for a long time. If you don’t believe me spend some time arguing with people that the United States was founded on Christian principle and ideology. The evidence to support that statement is irrefutable, but so many people have been corrupted by the government education system in America, that you simply cannot get through to them. Many will go as far as to tell you half the Founding Fathers were atheists and the like; completely ignoring the writings and statements of the very people they are talking about. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even waste time arguing with them any more. It’s easier to focus on those that can be saved and no I do not mean saved in a biblical sense, rather saved from the servitude that is coming their way. Yes, in the end I’m saying that much like the American Revolution that spawned this country, in the end it will be a small segment of the population that will stand and fight tyranny. True Americans, I’m certain that should that time come (really I mean when because I really don’t believe it is avoidable at this point) the New family will be standing by my side defending America.

The point of all that? If you have any trouble believing that the NWO or attempts to break our sovereignty and move towards a OWG are true, the Michael New story, the book written by his father that I recommended above, should go a long way to help you see the light. We are under attack and have been since at the very least the seventies by the highest levels of academia. During the 1973 International Education Seminar, Harvard psychiatrist Chester M. Pierce, speaking as an expert in public education, said:

"Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It's up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well by creating the international child of the future."

In reality we have been under attack for far longer than that. Most of you have by this time discovered the trap that credit cards are. It’s a one way road of never being out of date. Always owning as much or more as you did before. The American Government is being held hostage by the same system that holds you hostage. The Federal Reserve System is what has led to your problems as well as the 8.5 trillion dollar National Debt. It’s not accident that the Federal Reserve System and Income Tax were put into play at the same time. A private banking institution that you are forced to pay money to, which then provides loans to the Federal Government to operate on. The rich and powerful bankers get all the money, loan it to everyone for a profit, while having been established and funded by overseas interests. Nope, no conflict of interest there, bound to be good for Americans.

All of these things only paint a foundation for the attacks that our nation is under, attacks that our nation has been suffering for many years. The Michael New story is just another chapter in all this, but it is key because it marks an unprecedented new level of power for a group that doesn’t share the values of America and in fact has disdain for many of those values, yet is slowly being given more control and influence over her resources.

So what are the basics of the Michael New story? During the United Nations deployment to Macedonia a Finnish general was to be given command of a U.N. force being deployed to the region. American troops were to join that expedition but not as American military units, rather as U.N. military units. Michael’s unit was ordered to move the American Flag patch of their uniforms to the left sleeve, placing the U.N. patch on the right sleeve where the American Flag belongs. In addition they were to wear a blue scarf and helmet/cap/beret. Essentially his unit was being transformed from a United States Army unit into a United Nations military unit. Michael New addressed his concerns over this order with his Superiors and was dismissed with no basis being provided on it being a legal order. In the end, Michael refused to wear a U.N. uniform as this is constitutionally not an option as a member of the American military. He did show up in formation wearing the appropriate United States uniform. For this he was court-martialed. During his court-martial all evidence supporting why the order was an unlawful order was suppressed. Even looking at the United States Code regarding the flag proves this order in questionable.

UNITED STATES CODE

The United States Code is the official, subject matter order, compilation of the Federal laws of a general and permanent nature that are currently in force. In accordance with section 285b of title 2 of the U.S. Code, the Code is compiled by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the United States House of Representatives. The Code is divided into 50 titles by subject matter. Each title is divided into sections. Sections within a title may be grouped together as subtitles, chapters, subchapters, parts, subparts, or divisions. Titles may also have appendices which may be divided into sections, rules and/or forms.

The subjects covered by the 50 titles of the U.S. Code are:

4. Flag and Seal, Seat of Government, and the States

§175. Position and manner of display

(c) No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof: …

For those that do not know it, the right is considered to be a position of dominance in most situations; however this is absolutely consistent with the rest of US Code with regards to the flag as you can clearly see above.

Not only was Michael New being asked to serve a United Nations General in United Nations uniform, we has being asked to move the U.S. Flag to his left arm and place the U.N. flag on his right, giving it a position of dominance. I think it’s safe to assume that the United States Army should be considered a possession of the United States. While the reference really pertains directly to territory, I don’t believe it requires much of a leap to extend that to any physical possession, such as our Armed Forces.

Michael New is a hero. The fact that a 22 year old was willing to stand up for his beliefs regardless of the consequences is the stuff our Founding Fathers were made of. Had I been in Michael’s unit, there would have only been 548 soldiers in U.N. uniforms that day and two of us would have been court-martialed. I am truly saddened that 549 other young men were so complicit in something that strips the United States of her sovereignty and is in fact an illegal and unconstitutional order. It marks the clear state of emergency we are facing. I’m encouraging you to get this book, to read it, to understand the principles it is based on. I’m asking you to return to your heritage and remember what it means to be an American. If you do not, then may God have mercy on you… The future you face is not a pretty one. In the end I have little to fear except for the future of my nation. Ben Franklin made it clear that a republic had been created in America, if we could keep it. We are failing that test, but I will as they say in New Hampshire, live free or die. I will never willing fail those that have come before me; those that have risked all to provide to us the United States or those that have died to maintain it. I will do all in my power to leave behind me the same country that they founded and died for to my children.

If you share any of those beliefs, then you better get busy. Do some reading and come to understand the threat our Nation faces.

By the way speaking of the United Nations, 1995, and Macedonia don’t lose sight of the fact the United Nations wants all civilians disarmed… it worked well in 1995:

Of the many organizations keen on implementing gun control, the UN has been the most active. Like every other government or gang, the UN are after maintaining control and not ensuring safety of those they pretend to protect.

They have achieved some successes in disarming civilians, setting them up for genocide. For example, in 1995 the UN disarmed Bosnians of Srebrenica, promising them protection. The UN troops then withdrew, Srebrenica was overrun and over 8,000 now-disarmed people were murdered by the Serb army.

At least Michael New doesn’t have that on his conscience!
